Review: L’Oreal Infallible Never Fail Eyeliner

Good morning, ladies!

Thanks to my friend  (and fellow product junkie and bookworm) Em’s suggestion, I picked up a L’Oreal eyeliner last week at Target. Oh Target…how come I never spend less than $100 when I visit you? I only needed kleenex and dish soap! But, I digress…   🙂

Em said L’Oreal’s Infallible is her fave drugstore eye liner, and I was pleased to see the range of shades available, from black to brown to gray to combinations of shades. I wound up getting Black/Brown because they were out the Dark Brown. There probably isn’t much difference between the two!

While I was there I got a compliment on my lipstick! I had chosen it because I needed a shot of something bright and cheerful in this never-ending winter we’re having. (Insert Game of Thrones joke here.) I love talking makeup with anyone and everyone so I was excited to tell my fellow shopper it was NARS Carthage , which I bought because I read in InStyle that Ginnifer Goodwin wears it on days she needs to perk up and look pulled together. Mission accomplished, don’t you think?

Like my little buddy clinging to my shoulder, trying to get into the picture? He is a ham already!

Ok so back to the eyeliner. I have to say, it is pretty good. Not as budge-proof  as my trusty Benefit Waterproof eyeliner, but half the price, and it self-sharpens so I am not constantly having to whip out a sharpener, which is great because I usually make a mess. I was impressed at the different thicknesses I could accomplish with this pencil too.

I chose the Black/Brown shade because I will wear it the most. It stays put fairly well–I notice a bit collecting in the corners of my eyes when I apply it to my waterline, but it doesn’t get sloppy.

I’m pleased so far! I’ve worn it 4 times, and will wear it again today. We’re getting over massive sickness in our house–so I just went FIVE WHOLE DAYS without mascara, can you believe it? I can’t!

Here’s to sunshine, bright lipstick, and spending too much at Target!

Stay pretty ladies!

Review: CoverGirl Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner

I picked up this duo set a in early December because it featured a spin on my favorite drugstore mascara, CoverGirl LashBlast, AND because I’ve been asked a few times what my favorite drugstore eyeliner is, and I don’t actually have one! I thought I would take the Perfect Point Plus eyeliner for a test drive.

The mascara is actually LashBlast fusion, which promises volume (like the original LashBlast in the orange tube) with added length. Sounded good to me, but unfortunately, I didn’t see a huge difference. I’m using up the tube, and it’s definitely not bad, I just don’t notice so much more length. Given a choice between the two, I will stick to the original LashBlast.

The big bummer was the eyeliner! I’ve been very faithful to my Benefit Waterproof eyeliners because they’re easy to apply (ease being one of the main motivations for choosing a pencil liner) and actually stay put, even on the lash line (my fave liner trick). I had high hopes for this Perfect Point Plus pencil, but it had migrated to the outer corners of my eyes in a few hours. If I wanted the sexy, slept-in, rocker-chic look all day, I would be happy with this liner. But I am more preppy in my every day life and just wanted clean definition. The search continues for a good drugstore eyeliner, and I will let you all know when I find one!

Take away: If you want to try a CoverGirl Lashblast mascara, stick to the original orange tube–it is my tried-and-true favorite. For eyeliners, search elsewhere, the Perfect Point Plus is disappointing.
Thanks for reading ladies, stay pretty (and warm)!
