My Makeup favorites from the Sephora Spring Savings Event

Sephora Foundation Favorites

Starting Tuesday, April 13th, 2021 Sephora has their Spring Savings Event. Since I get asked all the time what my favorite products are, I wanted to include them in a series of blog posts. Let’s start with makeup, and check back soon for my skin care and hair product picks!

Complexion Favorites
Soft-Matte foundation: If you like a matte-finish for your complexion, without looking too caky, try the Lancome Teint Idole foundation.

Soft-Matte foundation #2: This foundation is to me what good liquid foundation should be. Easy to blend, long-wearing, doesn’t dull the look of your skin and comes in a huge range of shades (they had 40+ shades before it was cool). Makeup Forever HD foundation is a great staple to have in your makeup collection.

Super-Matte Foundation: If your skin is oily and you are taking steps to care for it properly but really want a full-matte finish on your makeup, then I recommend the Fenty Pro Filt’r foundation. Great shade range (40 colors) and they fixed the initial issue of colors oxidizing.

Sheer Foundation: If you want soft, natural coverage, the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer is a perennial favorite. There is a big range of shades, and it gives just enough coverage to help you look glowing and healthy. This is what I used in my very first YouTube video in 2013 and I love it to this day.

Best CC Cream: If you want more coverage than a tinted moisturizer, but want a more glowing (non-matte) finish, then you need the IT Cosmetics CC Cream. Full coverage, especially if you struggle with rosacea, but natural looking finish. Great on mature and/or drier skins. I would not recommend this for oilier skin types.

THE BEST foundation I have ever used: This is my very favorite foundation and yes I save it for special days. It moves with my skin and makes my face look amazing. I LOVE THIS STUFF. It’s the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation. I don’t like using terms like Holy Grail for makeup and skincare, but if I did, I would use it to describe this foundation. It is that good.

Sephora Concealers

Concealers

Splurge-worthy concealer: When they say this is “emotion-proof” they mean it. The Tom Ford concealer is opaque in color (meaning full coverage) and thin in consistency. Splurge? Yes. Worth it? Definitely!

Corrector/Undereye Brightener: If you struggle with very dark undereye circles, you may need to boost your concealer with a corrector. The Becca Undereye Brightener is concentrated and works well under concealer. Stock up now, because Becca announced they are going out of business 🙁

If you need a good all-around concealer, try the NARS Radiant Finish–it even comes in a mini from Sephora right now, in all the shades! Great way to try and see if the formula is right for you! I like a liquid formula with a doe-foot applicator because it works for both undereyes and blemishes.

If you prefer a more matte finish and don’t mind a pot, I like the NARS Soft Matte. This works very well over the Becca brightener linked above.

Non-foundation complexion faves

I don’t use a lot of primers but I do like a smooth finish. On days when my skin needs a little extra help, I can wear this over my foundation (and before powder, if using) OR I can wear it on it’s own–which I LOVE. The Milk Makeup Blur stick does exactly what it says it will, blurs the appearance of fine lines and large pores. So I put it on my forehead and look a few years younger. WIN. It even comes in a travel size for your purse! So cute!

Blush favorites: Time to re-stock!

Blush

The powder blush I recommend the most, because it flatters most pale-medium skin tones, is the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour blush in the shade Paarty.

Cream Blush: I am wearing this as I type this blog post and it is one of my most reached-for and most recommended makeup items. It is the Milk Makeup Lip +Cheek stick. Comes in a few shades but I find WERK is the most universally flattering.

Bronzer

This is a great bronzer to have, as it is matte and gives you warmth without the shimmer. The Park Ave Princess bronzer by Tarte is a total staple.

If you want to layer your cream and powder contour powders for a more sculpted look, check out the Patrick Ta Major Sculpt Creme Contour & Powder Bronzer Duo

Eyes

So many women have told me they struggle with mascara smudging. I hear you! Waterproof mascara is not the answer, BUT a tubing mascara may be the solution to your problems! I have recommended Blinc mascara  to so many women over the years and use it on myself frequently. This is also a great mascara if your lashes struggle to hold a curl!

Lash Curler: Speaking of curling your lashes! For me, there is only one lash curler, and that is the Surratt Beauty Relevee Lash Curler. Hello, gorgeous!

Liquid Liner: I love a smooth pen-like liner for dramatic eye looks. The best I have ever used is the Charlotte Tilbury Feline Flick.

Shadow Palettes: So many women have stacks of shadow palettes and they only use the same 3 shades. I love having smaller palettes with colors I can actually mix and match and wear. AND I also want a mix of mattes and shimmers (NOT GLITTER) because they are flattering on all faces. This Tarte Make Magic Happen is a favorite of mine and you will like it, too!

Perfect Purse Palette: Newer to me (and now in the forever favorite category) are the Natasha Denona palettes. The palettes are slim and compact, the colors are sophisticated and the formulas are easy to work with. These are truly great. I love the versatility of this one.

Matte-only palette: If you are still scared of shimmer in any form, then check out the Tarte Tartelette palette. These easy-to-blend shades are fun and let you create a variety of eye looks with no “what would I do with this color” options to freak you out.

Lips

Put this in your shopping cart now and thank me later! I use the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask about every other night and no longer need lip balm during the day. It is amazing and a great value. Comes in multiple flavors 🙂 I love the berry one but the gummy bear flavor is great, too!

If you want subtle color for everyday, I do really like the Bobbi Brown Crushed Oil-Infused Gloss. The colors are very wearable and it has the look of a gloss without being too sticky.

My favorite lip stains are the ones by YSL. They feel luxurious and give just the right amount of color. Water Stain Glow Lip Stains will be great for summer.

Just for fun!

If you are a true makeup junkie and just want to add beautiful products to your personal collection, I LOVE the Natasha Denona Love Cheek Duo.

This Patrick Ta Lip Gloss feels heavenly and is super shiny.

My wish list:

The Patrick Ta Major Beauty Headlines Blush— I have been craving this since I saw it in my friend’s kit. The colors are divine. Some colors are sold out online, but I want the “Do We Know Her?” peachy coral. Don’t be afraid of coral blush, especially for summer! It looks so fresh!

These cuties! I get asked so much about clean beauty (I have THOUGHTS) and ilia is a name that pops up a lot. But I haven’t played around with any of their products enough to recommend. I love to get minis of things I am not sure of!

I have loads more skincare on my wishlist this time, so check back in a few hours to see my list of Skincare Favorites from the Sephora Spring Sale! If you treat yourself (or your mom!) to any of these, take a picture and tag me! I love to see your goodies!
