I picked up this duo set a in early December because it featured a spin on my favorite drugstore mascara, CoverGirl LashBlast, AND because I’ve been asked a few times what my favorite drugstore eyeliner is, and I don’t actually have one! I thought I would take the Perfect Point Plus eyeliner for a test drive.
The mascara is actually LashBlast fusion, which promises volume (like the original LashBlast in the orange tube) with added length. Sounded good to me, but unfortunately, I didn’t see a huge difference. I’m using up the tube, and it’s definitely not bad, I just don’t notice so much more length. Given a choice between the two, I will stick to the original LashBlast.
The big bummer was the eyeliner! I’ve been very faithful to my Benefit Waterproof eyeliners because they’re easy to apply (ease being one of the main motivations for choosing a pencil liner) and actually stay put, even on the lash line (my fave liner trick). I had high hopes for this Perfect Point Plus pencil, but it had migrated to the outer corners of my eyes in a few hours. If I wanted the sexy, slept-in, rocker-chic look all day, I would be happy with this liner. But I am more preppy in my every day life and just wanted clean definition. The search continues for a good drugstore eyeliner, and I will let you all know when I find one!
Take away: If you want to try a CoverGirl Lashblast mascara, stick to the original orange tube–it is my tried-and-true favorite. For eyeliners, search elsewhere, the Perfect Point Plus is disappointing.
Thanks for reading ladies, stay pretty (and warm)!
